How we choose our medical negligence cases.

Baizer Kolar & Lewis is a strong supporter of the civil justice system. We would never waste our time or the precious time of a Judge and jury with a frivolous lawsuit. We believe very strongly that it is our duty to pursue only meritorious cases involving substantial injury or death. Thus, in deciding whether to file a lawsuit, we:

• Have at least two attorneys from our firm participate in a lengthy initial interview with the prospective client.
• Perform our own medical and/or other research involving the matter.
• Obtain all relevant records and review the records in detail.
• Retain only highly qualified physicians in the specialty at issue (cardiology, obstetrics, neurology, nephrology, etc.) to review the records and care provided the patient.
• Meet with the reviewing physician at length to determine if a case has merit.

We recognize that filing a lawsuit involves a significant expenditure of time and money for our firm, the defendant and the court system. Thus, we often reject potential cases at any of the above stages of our review.

Our exhaustive preparation assures that when we stand before a jury and ask for a substantial award in favor of our client, the jury will quickly appreciate that we believe in our case and that a substantial award for our client is the only just result.
