Bob Baizer Illinois Medical Malpractice Lawyer

Bob Baizer Illinois Medical Malpractice LawyerBob Baizer has been practicing law since 1972. It took many of those years to serve as stepping stones for him to obtain the largest medical malpractice verdict ever in Illinois, and the state's second largest pre-verdict medical malpractice settlement.

Bob attended college at the University of California at Berkeley and at the University of Illinois in Champaign, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in political science in 1969. In 1972, he earned a Juris Doctor degree at Northwestern University Law School, where he was a member of the prestigious Northwestern University Law Review. After graduating law school, Bob worked for a couple of years in prominent Chicago corporate law firms, but found the work totally unfulfilling. In 1975, he decided that if he were going to practice law, he wanted to be a real lawyer and try cases in front of juries.

From 1975 through 1978, Bob was an Assistant State Attorney in Lake County, Illinois, where he prosecuted major criminal matters. such as murders and rapes. After leaving the States Attorney's Office, Bob set up shop on his own and began to build toward working on multi-million dollar trials and settlements. Although some of the greatest successes of his current and predecessor firm came in connection with air crash disasters(including an $8.1 million verdict against USAir arising out of the crash of its Flight 405 at La Guardia Airport in 1992), his firm's greatest victory was in the medical malpractice area. In September of 1997, Baizer & Kolar won an $18.6 million verdict on behalf of a four year old child who had cerebral palsy as a result of the hospital's negligence. That was the largest jury verdict ever in the State of Illinois in a medical malpractice case. Since then, Bob has engineered numerous million and multi-million dollar personal injury settlements, including a $19.4 million medical malpractice settlement on behalf of a man who suffered a brain injury as a result of a doctor's misjudgment.

The most gratifying part of Bob's work is watching the benefits his clients receive as a result of the firm's settlements and trial victories. Nothing gives Bob greater joy than watching his catastrophically injured clients be able to afford specially equipped vans to accommodate their disabilities, motorized wheelchairs, and sufficient amounts of therapies that insurance companies would never pay for. Seeing a family move from a totally non-handicapped accessible apartment to a spacious handicapped accessible home is a particularly thrilling feeling.

Although courtroom victories are exciting, helping seriously injured clients better their lives lets Bob look forward to going to work every morning.

Bob is a member of the Board of Managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Lake County Bar Association and was nominated by his peers in 2004 to the Leading Lawyers Network (Leadinglawyers.com).
